It was the prettiest and brightest rainbow ever! Even Rainbow Bright would have been proud! 👀🙄😂 Wish my iPhone could have really captured its true beauty near these railroad tracks! 🌈

X-tra Pics and Stuff

My hubby thought this bent oak tree was used as a trail marker by the Native Americans–passing through a long time ago. And maybe afterwards, grew this way? Who knows for sure? It was huge and unique! 🤔🤷‍♀️

That baby really wanted to ride the ferris wheel that year at the county fair! Can you see him pointing up to it?~pic taken by his mom🙂

The one year I actually “started” a Bucket List…Riding in an air balloon was on it. 🤡

When I had discovered that year’s Ladies Conference would involve a ride in an air balloon, I was ecstatic!

My little family and I had actually taken a small trip to attend a Hot Air Balloon Festival at a state fairgrounds, years back and had wanted to ride in one. (It was actually tethered)

From the moment we first arrived in the town, it rained up until that evening. We tried sloshing around in mud just to get to some of the kiddy fair rides, but had to call it a night. It was just too nasty! The hot air balloons had been shut down due to the rainy weather.

Anyways, back to the Ladies Conference….I had talked my friend into trying to ride in one at the campgrounds. Most the ladies had already went up in it after the Day service. We had missed the golden opportunity however 😂. So, we were actually first in line that night after the church service.

Keep in mind we were both scared of heights! The hot air balloon was tethered and was only going 50 feet up, I kept reminding myself and her.

The bad part of all this was that a little over a month before, several people had been killed in a hot air balloon accident in Maxwell, TX. They had struck high-voltage power lines and crashed! 😥

I kept telling myself, “Face your fears, Renee, you’re not actually going to be riding around up in the air in that thing!”

The weather had turned a little gusty, so the guy that was operating the hot air balloon did a trial run. The wind flipped the bucket over in the air a few feet up, so that ended the dream balloon ride that year! Oh well! 🤷‍♀️ All’s well that ends well, I suppose! 🤡

Taken by my daughter a little after my youngest grandson was born. She did a Woodland theme nursery. The little guy was NOT too happy about the mug shot!🦊 🐿 🦝 🦌 .

The hospital door hanger on the upper top right, was made by my sister. You can’t see the musical, wind-up raccoon that well, but it had that and the little fox.

  1. Oh my gosh! That oak in your yard is magnificent! I love the camera angle. I can also see the story behind the tree being a marker for travelers.

I took the kids to the Red River Balloon Rally a few years back. We couldn’t ride one though because of the weather. But we did see King & Country that night and they had the balloons lit up as a backdrop. That was cool.
All your pictures are gorgeous. I wish my phone would take photos like that 😦

Yeah, two letters left 😦 I’m sad. I’ve really enjoyed your posts on the challenge.

    • Thank you Stu! That’s sweet! I love that old tree! The bent one with my grandson on it is near a restaurant close to Louisiana. I thought it looked neat! I can imagine being able to see King & Country live was awesome, especially with hot air balloons as a backdrop!!! I know the kids enjoyed that! I’m gonna miss this challenge 😥It has kept me on my toes! I never paid attention to how much I actually love taking pics. I’m not professional by no means, but it makes me happy. This is almost a life-time of pics, but maybe I can get some good future ones, too. 😄 Iphone cameras are not too bad…mine was even clearer when it wasn’t so cluttered with apps and pics. Hope you have a good day!
