August/ Back To The Basics Tag

August | Back to the Basics Tag

Thank you so much Dollface for gifting me this tag! It’s been many years since I attended school….but I loved every minute of it back then! Sorry it has taken me so long to get to this! I’m so far behind… 🙂

Without further ado,

The Meaning of this Tag:
For many people here in the United States, August means the beginning of a new school year, or at the very least time to prepare for school to begin in early September. It can be very stressful and chaotic. “Back to School” is all over advertisements, television, the internet, grocery stores, department stores…pretty much everywhere you look. It’s a combination of excitement, anxiety, and stress that our society dreads yet looks forward to every year.
In this month’s tag, inspired by the nostalgia of “Back to School” season, Purple Rose and I want to go “Back to the Basics” and reflect on our education and early life. Join us in remembering the sweet smell of freshly opened crayons, the sound of pencils sharpening, and the sight of red ink on the most recently graded assignment…
5. Answer the questions.
6. Tag at least one person.
7. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your month! ❤

Here are the questions and my answers:

1. Did you (do you) go to public school or private school? Or, were you (are you) homeschooled? (Please do not share the name of your school XD)

I went to public school.

2. What was (is) your favorite subject in school? I had several favs. English, Literature, Typing, Biology and even American History in high school. Also Medical Terminology and Medical Transciption in my Secretarial course in college.

3. What was your favorite grade in school? 7th grade. My year of moving to Junior High.

4. Do you prefer pens or pencils? Why? Pens. It’s quicker to write.

5. What was (is) your favorite school lunch? I ate in the cafeteria, up until senior year, when I started just bringing my own sandwich. Mexican casserole was my favorite! 😋 Corn dogs. And the pizza was the best homemade I have EVER eaten! And strangely, I loved the pear on lettuce bed with cheese and mayo. My friends thought that was gross, but I didn’t care lol😂.

That same lady who was over the cafeteria attends my church now. We both moved later to the next town over. She is in her early 90’s and gets around better than I do!…a great Prayer Warrior, cook, a widow who raised all her children on her own. Here is a link to two books she has written, if you have time to check them out!

6. What is the biggest lesson you have learned in life? To not give into peer pressure. I did good in this area on up until my senior year… 🤦🏼‍♀️

7. What do you wish someone taught you a long time ago? To have self-confidence, how to make friends and how to set boundaries with dominant people. It has taken me a long time to learn this one.

I loved reading your answers so much! Would you once write about a post about your school days? I always feel the past was a golden time and literature and history are my favourite subjects too! 🙂

  4. Yeah I guess you and me were the only ones tho loved the pear thing at our schools! 😂 Most people threw it in the garbage! And I actually liked the 7th better than any grade. It was the year I felt like I was no longer a kid anymore I guess! Thanks for stopping in friend. 😀

  6. Thanks so much for that sweet compliment! 🤗🌼 I was painfully shy and awkward. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess I just didn’t know how to express myself outwardly. I’m still a little like that. I talk more on paper and texting than I do in real life. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I’m ok with that! It’s just who I am! 😁🤗🌼
