Review of AVIAN FRIENDS: Encouraging Poems Inspired by Backyard Birds by Yvette Prior 🦅🦆🐦🐣📚 😁

Flattery is a wonderful thing…And that is exactly how I felt when our very own here on WP, Yvette at Priorhouse , my friend, shared her book of avian friends—Flattered, it was an honor for me to read and brought many smiles to my face! And I must say I was genuinely impressed!

Her love for our feathered friends showed from start to finish. It was very obvious she is an avid fan of nature and the outdoors. She loves watching her avian friends in their natural habitat and that played a huge part in the selection of verses she penned in her book.

Every page was filled with her intriguing way with humor and wit, but most importantly her love for birds spilled right out of her heart and across every page!

I really enjoyed the “Behind the Poem” inserts. It was very interesting to read about the inspiration behind each individual poem. Tucked into every one of these, are bits of information that I had never heard before….teaching moments and little nuggets of wisdom she has gleaned from reading books from other authors about our beloved avian friends. Also, she addresses real life issues through the use of idioms about our fine “birds of a feather!”

My personal favorite I think was called, “Why the Joy.” It focused on having godly contentment. It spoke to my spirit. We don’t always have to be happy to be content. “Trying” was a humorous one that left me chuckling. How many times have I tried to get my own way, to no avail with God. I’m glad He knows best. 🙂 I could see myself this past summer, sitting on my back porch, wishing I didn’t have to go back in. So, I took the sunshine inside with me. I loved that one also. Could it be safe to say that I ❤️ this whole book??? 😁

As you begin to read each line, let your worries roll and fade, like “water off a duck’s back!” An actual idiom from her book that I have always found humorous and helpful, by the way. 😁✌🏼

If you are a fan of nature and birds and in the market for a great collection of poems, look no further. This one’s for you! Prepare yourself to apply chapstick quite often from all the smiling you will do!

I give this great book of poetic prose a 5 star! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

5 thumbs up!!!

      • So glad we have this connection now .
        And I am
Getting some hard copies at some point this year and I will sign a paperback for you!
        The least I can do!
And my mother n law read this book earlier this year – and was shocked to find the gramma Terena bird nest reference – it touched her and she was so happy- she also
Loved the book and now her husband is reading it – a few poems each day.
And as an author – to get even feedback like this is so rewarding –
And well – all my books were God led – but this one has a special vibe to it – and thanks again for giving part of your self and your time to explore it and review it

      • Oh my goodness, Yvette! I am so HONORED that you would sign a copy of your book just for me! So excited! 👏🏼 👏🏼😄And so thankful for connecting with you here, as well! 😁

Mentioning Gramma Terena was quite a blessing to her! That was so sweet of you. 💜
I was totally honored to read your book. It blessed my heart for sure and was my pleasure to review! I still think of the one about taking the sunshine indoors with you. 💜 It reminds me that we can take our beloved birdsong anywhere we go-even in our heart. 🐦 It was definitely evident that it was God-inspired. 💕😁🌷🐦

      • Well
The amazing thing is how you “got” so many little things that I intended – I wanted to inspire and let people in more by using the behind the poems section!
I wanted to educate a little when you noted that part – I was like “she gets so much here”
And other things in your review were just things that as an author – I was like “yes!”
        Hahah
        And if I add some
Comments to the back of the book – do I have permission to add something from you?
