Why Do I, Do I Hearts?

Why do I do hearts?

My Baby Love! Rip 2015

My blog name and posts are centered around hearts. For the most part.

I was asked why recently in one of the comments on my posts. This is a very good question which deserves a lot of response! Only a whole post would do!

Amy at A New Life asked me the question, stemming from a conversation’s question she had with her two precious and curious daughters.

Thank you Amy for asking! Tell your girls to keep being curious. I love it! 💜 Here’s the comment and my response:

Ok Renee…I’ve got a question for you. Let me set the scene. It’s Friday afternoon and it’s boiling out. Being the on the go mom who forgets something every time, I forgot water for the kids for after the park. We go through the drive through and my girls get slushi’s! While sipping, Abigail sees a heart in the frozen liquid. She says, text Renee Gren-ay..(she’s named you this because of the E at the end of Greene, she’s never seen that spelling) Then Leah says, I see a heart in mine too! Leah asks, why does Renee do her blog about hearts? So Renee, why do you?

Let me just first say, I know now, without a shadow of a doubt…

It’s a God-thing.

Something if you had told me ten years ago would happen to me, I would have been a little skeptical. Things like that, I had only heard about and didn’t quite understand.

In the beginning, it was dragonflies I was seeing everywhere, connecting me to a childhood home where dragonflies were my favorite part of the summer. I felt the sudden spottings were a reminder to write the book, based on living in that home. (Which I still haven’t gotten finished yet 🤦‍♀️)

In my very first post on WordPress I talked about this some. So, here’s the link to that. Tokens of His Love.

It went from dragonflies to hearts. I started noticing hearts in the strangest places. So much so, I took it to God and asked, “God, why is this happening? Why am I seeing all these hearts?” Is this in the Bible? Is it biblical?

So, I took to the scriptures. And discovered one that really spoke to my heart.

“Shew me a token for good:…because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.” ~Psalms 86:17 KJV

“Make a show of how much you love me…” MSG

🤔 Just exactly what was a token? I researched the web. I looked up the definition.

Token- applies to something that serves as a proof of something intangible. Example sentence: this gift is a token of our esteem. ; a sign.

Sign – something material or external (an object, quality, event, or entity) that stands for or signifies something spiritual: something indicating the presence or existence of something else. A natural sign bears a causal relation to its object—for instance, thunder is a sign of storm.

At first, I thought it may be because of my fur baby named Baby, (a Chihuahua/rat terrier mix) who had passed away a few years back, and I was still grieving her loss. Baby was 11 years old when her kidneys finally shut down.

To show you how I had never really noticed things like this before, she had a heart on her right side. I only noticed this in the latter part of her life. Maybe the fur had grown and had changed its shape over the years. I don’t really know.

My favorite pic of her

Getting back to signs. I was taught we should never seek after signs. I had never asked God for a sign that I know of. So, it was quite puzzling to me. Maybe as a prayer like, Lord, please show me if this is Your Will. Give me a confirmation. That’s also biblical.

Nevertheless, signs are in the Bible. We were instructed in the Word to pay attention to the signs of the end times, for that matter.

Many people in the Bible were shown signs.

Gideon asked God in Judges 6:17, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.” NIV

Moses was given a sign to show that God was with Him. He would throw his rod down, and it would turn into a snake.

In Genesis 9:8-17, we have the most famous sign of all – the rainbow, God showed Noah. That is the one I want to talk about. Because it’s here where we can find understanding.

“And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:”

I do set my BOW in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭9:12-13‬ ‭

I really prayed about it and asked God if this was something that needed to be shared.

I’ve never been a person who wanted to call attention to myself. In fact, I’m a ‘behind the scenes’ sort of gal. I didn’t want anyone to thing I was trying to exalt myself or give anyone the impression I was something special or trying to be ‘too big for my britches,’ so to speak. Or even crazy for that matter! I’m just being honest here!

But in reading the above scriptures, I noticed something really big that just stood out to me!

A covenant is an agreement which brings about a relationship of commitment between God and his people. The Jewish faith is based on the biblical covenants made with Abraham, Moses, and David. Those were unconditional. There was nothing they could do to earn it.

Covenants are also promises from God to us. We all have promises we are standing on.

One of mine actually is about “the heart,” for my husband’s salvation. Found in Ezekiel 36:25-28.A promise that God would give Him a “new heart.”

But notice where it said in the scripture: This is a token (sign) of covenant which I make between

  • Me
  • you
  • AND every living creature…FOR PERPETUAL (never ending) GENERATIONS.

Since I started sharing these hearts on my blog, other people have been seeing them also. I call them “love letters” “heart tokens” from God.

God wants RELATIONSHIP with ALL His children. Not just me. But ALL of you who are reading this right now.

There are so many more people, like myself, who need reminding that God loves you so much! He wants to be in covenant with us all!

Those who have made mistakes, who have been abused or whatever your situation is –

You are deeply and dearly loved!

Nothing can separate you from His love and covenant with you! 💜✝️

He already paid the price in full and sent back His Comforter, to keep you in all your ways.

Remember that today. How powerful His love is! That He would send His promises that can never be broken. There’s nothing you can do to earn that favor. Just accept it and walk in His blessings. In Jesus Name.

And that, my friends, is why I do hearts. Simple as that.

  1. I see hearts in things, too, sometimes in weird places. The most obvious one was when I found a leaf on the path where I was walking that was the perfect shape of a heart. It was even solid red. (I didn’t see a tree or bush close by with similar leaves.) It sat on my kitchen counter for about a week, just making me smile. ❤

  3. This post is so cool! And what’s even cooler is that Amy’s girl immediately thought of you upon seeing those hearts♥️ That says a lot.

You have explained tokens, which I had never looked up before. Me learned something new today😊

    • Thank ya, Stu! Abigail thinking of me when she saw the heart really touched me! 💜 And then Leah also! 🥰 I pray these girls always see how much they are loved by God, because He sent them a very special token as a reminder. Most importantly, I believe God wants us all to feel His love every time we see a token and share the love with others to remind them, as well! I’m glad you learned something new! 👏🏼 God’s Word is powerful like that! A complete trove of treasures! 💎♦️

  4. I am blessed in going back and finding this post. I have sometimes wondered the same thing about “Heart Tokens” as your blog’s name. Your use of Scripture and personal testament connect all of the dots. Blessings to God’s witness found here.
