Happy Pentecost Sunday! For those of you who have inquiring minds [like me]…😆 here’s a bit of history for you while you drink that second cup of coffee…or that first cup for some. ☕️ ☕️ 🤔
According to the internet, (and we do know Google knows ALL🤣) Pentecost Sunday celebrates the day the Holy Ghost/ Holy Spirit fell on the Apostles and disciples shortly after Christ’s Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension. (Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2), and it symbolizes the beginning of the Christian church’s mission to the world.
So there you have it! Happy Birthday Church!
In celebration of this beautiful and reverent day, here’s a link to a song that speaks to my heart today. Enjoy! 💜✝️
No Hopeless Soul/ Stephen Stanley

I’m surprised Pentecost isn’t talked about more here (celebrated), maybe it is but not that I know of. Good post!!

Thank you, Alicia! My thoughts exactly! It should be celebrated more. I know some don’t believe this way, but it happened in the Bible and is still happening today. I’m glad that Jesus sent the Comforter. It’s in fact, just that. A comfort in many days, through the happy and sad.

When I was growing up the word/label “Pentecostal” had a rather negative connotation. The Pentecostal congregations were called, “Holy Rollers”, snake handlers(yes, in some regions of America people handle snakes to show how much faith they have), and then they would make fun of them for “speaking in tongues”.

You are right. Growing up, people made fun of Pentecost, in general, for all sorts of reasons. I was very surprised the first time someone asked me if I handled snakes!Nope!
Paul got bit by a viper in Acts 28:3-5, shook it off in the fire and felt no harm.
He was definitely not trying to handle one, neither was he going around “trying” to drink any deadly thing! Signs follow believers, but snakes and drinking deadly things mean if it’s by accident only.

Renee for me the idea of purposely handling a snake is tempting God, this is my personal opinion on the matter.

God didn’t call me to do it so I ain’t! (From the words of Wendy Bagwell) 🙊
