A Word for You

An older man and wife came into the hotel’s dining room a while back.

I was making my rounds.

Refilling food. Wiping down tables and bars.

The usual.

And when this sort of thing happens, it still catches me off guard.

Every.

Single.

Time.

As the gentlemen approached the coffee bar, I welcomed him, while his wife got them a table.

He smiled and shared how awesome the day was with me.

We laughed.

We smiled.

He moved on.

The next time we shared a conversation, I sacheyed out of the kitchen with a fresh pot of coffee, with the intentions of refilling the coffee canister.

Apparently, he was watching for that particular moment and came up beside me. “You have a servant’s heart,” he blurted.

Surprised, I looked up. (opened-mouthed, I’m sure) “Oh wow. Thank you!” I answered back.

“Where did you learn this? From Christ, no doubt.“

“Well, definitely, but I have to thank my Bishop and his wife. They taught me this when I first started going to church. To make sure our church guests get what they need when we serve them.”(meaning while serving a meal in our fellowship hall)

He replied in return, “Thank him for me, would you, please? You have made us feel welcome and have taken care of us so wonderfully. We appreciate it!”

I was still stunned and said I would and how much I appreciated the kind comment.

We moved on.

Later on while wiping down bar, the same gentleman walked up and said, “I got a Word from the Lord for you.”

I said by all means share it with me. I’m all about the Word of God. We moved over to an empty table. He got his phone out and let me read a text message, I think it was.

“God was not in the wind. God was not in the earthquake. God was not in the fire. God was in a still small voice.”

The next text message read, Someone needs to hear the Word of God today.

Tears welled up in my eyes.

It made my day.

For I was that someone.

We are all in need of God’s Word to help get us through the moment, the day—the trial.

Were they angels?

Maybe.

Most likely earth angels.

For I know they were my angel for the moment, when I needed the reminder God knew where I was.

Already had a solution.

Was in control.

I hugged the woman and thanked them again.

They left.

My day was the better for it.

God’s Word always accomplishes what it sets out to do.

It will never return void.

Here’s to sharing God’s Word in the middle of the mundane.

The chaos.

The happy.

The sad.

Here’s to God’s Word.

And His earth angels.

Hotel dining room is officially ready for Christmas!
Yours truly and my girls❤️💚

  1. Hello – I love that photo of you and the girls – such beautiful gals – and I think of you when I see hearts in nature -well I always think of my “heart tokens” friend when i see a heart subtly provided by God in nature – like in a leaf, shadow, puddle, etc

    Hope you are doing well

    • Thank you for your kind words, Yvette! My girls are my heart.

So glad you’re still being blessed with God’s love letters/ heart tokens!

I’m doing well. I’m no longer working two jobs, but I am working a full time, which still keeps me busy. I hope to get back to blogging soon. One can hope, right?

Hope you and yours are doing good! 💜
