What Was Your Name, Again?

Super Mom?? (Me, far left) Elastigirl (also known as Mrs. Incredible)?? Wonder Woman? Super Girl? Captain Marvel? Or maybe Team Marvel Comics?? 🤔🧐👨‍🍳👩‍🎤👩‍🏫👩🏼‍🎨👩‍🚒🥷🦸‍♀️🦹🧑🏼‍🎤…..🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you ever forgotten someone’s name before?

Whether a lack of sleep was the culprit, or the blame shifted more heavily on having a terrible memory…

Or you are known more for remembering faces better than names…

You’ve done it—

I’ve done it—

We’ve all done it, at some point in time.

No Super Hero here.

Just Baby Doll to my Honey.

Super Mom to my Baby Girls.

Nonna to my Precious Littles.

And simply Renee to everyone else who falls somewhere in the in between.

Daughter of the King 💯!!!

But there was a time when I was known by another name.

And this it seems, is where the explaining gets a tad complicated.

Yes, I am the same person…but not the same—if you will.

When I first started elementary school, my teachers called me by my first name, which got shortened to a nickname.

So somewhere far, far away in this vast universe I have an alias and classmates recognize me as that identity.

I’m Piglet!!!!

SURPRISE!!! 🥳🐽🌸

No?

You don’t believe me?

Well, I do love pink though.

Just saying and just kidding!

It was only my first name, and in the next town over—30 minutes away!

But that’s beside the point.

My point being, there is something about a name and its meaning.

Moving along to my new (not so new) name now.

All of you who have been following my blog here, know me as Renee.

It’s what I was called at home since I was born.

I didn’t really find out the meaning of my name until after I was saved.

I felt and still feel the new/not so new name fits me better.

Renee is French, meaning, “Reborn.”

It suits me just fine, being I was born again when I became a Christian.

This got me to thinking of the times Jesus changed the names of some people in the Bible.

Jacob to Israel.

Sarai to Sarah.

Simon to Peter.

You get the picture.

Of course, I asked Google why names were changed in the Bible. And this is the response:

Reasons Names Were Changed:

1– To express a new identity.

2– Noting a change in a person’s life to reflect God’s purpose.

These changes often signify an important encounter with God.

A new destiny.

A covenant promise.

Not just a name change, but a major transformation in that individual.

Which brings me to you…

Who does Jesus say YOU are?

I would love to hear what your name means! Drop them in the comments below, if you care to share!

As for me, I’m no longer a Breakfast Hostess working at a hotel.

I’m a Library Clerk now who has always loved books and writing.

I’m no longer what I used to be before Jesus called me by a new name.

I’m REBORN.
