While standing in the cornfield in our backyard, I “caught a thought.” One of that old Stephen King movie, Children of the Corn. I’m not one for scary movies, but I had to laugh out loud on that one, because that’s how I roll. (Just refer to the t-shirt)

You have crowned the year with Your bounty,
And Your paths drip with fatness.
The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the hills gird themselves with rejoicing.
The meadows are clothed with flocks
And the valleys are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, yes, they sing.
Psalms 65:11-13
I never actually watched the movie. My high school buddies filled me in on all the details, as I could not handle many movies from this particular genre. It’s not that I did not try.
The Lord Shall Open His Good Treasure
Of course, I also “caught a positive” from all this…
We ARE the children of the corn!!!
Not in a scary movie kind of way. But in the blessings of God kind of way.
“Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”
Deuteronomy 28:3, 8

You visit the earth and cause it to overflow;
You greatly enrich it;
The stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth.
Psalms 65:9
There were so many wonderful scriptures I could have added, a whole book full of them, in fact! Every scripture, every promise of the Word of God holds LIFE, corn, fatness, blessings! The Word is the VERY LIFE and LIGHT of God Himself!
I don’t know about you my friend, but I am so glad to be housing that LIGHT inside me!!!
So yeah…..We are truly blessed going in and blessed going out! Blessed and highly favored of the Lord!

Hallelujah!
Happy to be housing His light within too, Renee.
By the way, the garden is looking lovely 😊

I love EVERYTHING about this! Especially since I’m trying so hard to grow my own little garden, lol. I think the moles are winning… BUT GOD! 🙂 I prayed over that little plot of ground and thought about many verses, just like this one, where God said He would bless the fruit of our labors.
And OH yes! What a joy to be a temple of the Living God! ❤ I cannot praise and thank Him enough!
Thank you for sharing pictures of your bounty, and your beautiful smile! Much love, my friend!

I am so blessed to have your encouragement my friend! I think the deer almost won here! They tore our peas up at first! My wonderful son-in-law bought one of those siren thingys. Scared the daylights out of them and me, too!
I will be helping you pray for your little patch of garden! Our squash did not make much. Thank goodness for google! The tomatoes were rotting on the bottom. My hubby went and bought calcium phosphate, (I think) and it has solved the problem! We have tomatoes galore! He is the real green thumb between the two of us.
I need to loan you my dog and cat! They kill every mole in our yard here! 😂
Love you sis! Thanks for reading! 🙂

I am so jealous of that garden. I love fresh squash, okra and eating corn right off the cob after being picked!

Awe, Stu, if you lived close by, I would say come get you some! There’s nothing like sweet corn straight from the cob! We usually buy peaches and cream, but Silver Queen is all they had left here when we decided to plant. Which is really good, too. 🙂

Amen! Renee, thanks for sharing God’s bounty of joy. Sometimes there is too much negativity on either side of main street, but the road down the middle is God’s joyful place to be. I needed to hear some affirmation from the your discussion and Psalm 65. God’s peace!

Oh to be in the middle of that road! A Happy Medium! There is too much negativity these days! I’m so happy that we can share the good parts of our lives! Affirmations are the best! Hope you had a blessed 4th!
